In this introduction and overview of church history, discover the amazing story of how Jesus Christ built His church from Pentecost to the present. This course covers 2,000 years of the exciting exploits of the possessing church as well as an explanation of the activities of the false, professing church. Each student will learn the difference between a committed church and a compromised church. We will look at the key events and faithful heroes of the Christian faith through adversity and trials, as well as look at the heretics and the heresies they introduced, seeking to attack and weaken the church. While certain faith traditions venerate the saints of old, others tend to ignore these godly ones. We will seek to find a balance as we study the saints and difficult situations of those who have gone before us, to learn of their faithfulness to Christ and His Word, and to be challenged to live holy lives as they did. This course will establish the biblical foundation of the church and examine the church in five distinct eras:
- The Ancient Church- 30- 476 AD
- The Medieval Church- 476- 1517 AD
- III. The Reformation Church- 1517- 1648 AD
- The Modern Church- 1648- Present
- The American Church and Baptist Heritage- 1607- Present
