If you are interested in an issue with the Texas State Legislature, you can track a bill addressing that issue at: capitol.texas.gov. You can follow the progress of that bill by setting up a notification program.
The site: capitol.texas.gov can also be used to:
- Get contact information on every Texas State Representative and State Senator.
- Discover who is on which committee, chairs, vice-chairs, when their next meeting is scheduled, and where the committee meets.
- Discover which committee will handle which bills.
- Download the actual text of a bill.
- Follow the timeline of how any bill moves through the legislature.
- Discover the actual votes cast in committees or full house/senate votes.
- Create your own custom list of notifications you wish to follow.
Another site that has great information is irl.texas.gov. This site contains links to the daily proceedings of the House and Senate. It is the state equivalent of the Federal Register.
You can learn the detail of the progress of a bill at: The Legislative Process in Texas
