Loveology: A Book Study

By First Dallas Staff

Love. It’s a beautiful gift from God that many of us desire. But once you fall in love with that special someone, how do you navigate the blissfulness and butterflies when facing life’s unexpected challenges? What happens when you compare yourself to cultural standards and think you are falling out of the “Honeymoon Stage?” Who do you seek advice from when you have relationship questions and have no one you can turn to?

Look no further than our Young Married Ministry at First Baptist Dallas. We believe our church’s job is to guide couples and their marriage with a God-centered approach. We hope to provide you a place to grow spiritually every Sunday morning for yourself and your spouse alongside other couples eager to enhance one of life’s greatest gifts—love.

Loveology is just that—a theology of love. Our ministry is ready to dive deep into a brand-new book study, and we invite you and your significant other to follow along with us starting September 11. For the next eight weeks, we will discuss one of the chapters of Loveology, “an autobiography thread that turns a book into a story, and a pastor into a teacher by John Mark Comer.”

  • Are you seriously dating, engaged, or newly married?
  • Are you tired of the Hollywood ideal?
  • Are you looking for a group of people who want to ask questions and get intelligent, nuanced, grace-and-truth answers rooted in the Scriptures?
  • Are you ready to join the conversation?

This book study will discuss topics surrounding Loveology’s principles of “God, Love, Marriage, Sex, and the Never-Ending Story of Male and Female.” The book starts with marriage and works backward. As a group, we will look at what is right in relationships based on how God intended in the garden of Eden and how this applies to us today in a post-Eden world.

As we discuss bold topics, we invite brave, raw, and uncut questions in our welcoming environment where biblical knowledge dominates today’s modern relationships and cultural expectations. Nothing is off the table when it comes to topics dealing with sexuality, romance, singleness, and what it means to be male and female.

The First Baptist Dallas Marriage Ministry would love to see you for the start of our new book series, Loveology. Plan on joining us on Sunday, September 11 through October 30 at 9:15am in Horner Family Center, Room 718. The class is free. Just let us know if you are coming.
